Ap left a remembrance on The Hurricane Cafe:
🌹 Hangovers aren't the same without those bottomless greasy hash browns. Miss ya
Vicken left a remembrance on La Fendee:
🌹 This place is still open as of October 2023.
KC left a remembrance on Tani's Kitchen:
🌹 Whenever I crave some Japanese curry, the store is my go-to place. Just realized the owner is retired. Guess nothing lasts forever.
greg (admin) left a remembrance on Californios:
🌹 thanks for letting us know. this specific location doesn't exist anymore, but you're right that the restaurant is still open at a new address. I'll change it so that the site can reflect this i.e. not say "permanently closed" but rather "closed / moved". cheers
me left a remembrance on Californios:
🌹 They didn’t die; they moved locations
A former shipyard worker left a remembrance on No Name Restaurant:
🌹 What a great place. Right by the shipyard. I'm still convinced half of the site visits we hosted were more about the chowder and fried seafood platter than the ships. It didn't have a chance once the neighborhood got trendy, unfortunately, but it was really sad to see it go.
Bigi left a remembrance on ABC Bakery & Cafe 茶餐廳:
🌹 This was the comfort food after-work date spot for me and my wife when we used to both work in the city! Pretty decent food and very hole-in-the-wall but just the kind of food that hits the spot after a long day at the office.
sneak left a remembrance on New Parthenon:
🌹 I came here with my father at least once a year from age 5 until he died 25 years later. At some point I lived across the street and came in weekly. When it closed for renovations during Covid, I was afraid, but held out hope. It will be missed.
DO left a remembrance on Olmos Pharmacy:
🌹 My family would go here when I was a kid. They would serve old school milkshakes with the metal cups and mixing machine. I always liked their bean and cheese tacos. Classic diner fare. RIP
Felix left a remembrance on Sophie's Cuban Cuisine:
🌹 I think we got lunch orders from there. Miss the spicy chicken plate.
Felix left a remembrance on Ruben's Empanadas:
🌹 Loved their rice and beans and the vinegary hot sauce.
Edward left a remembrance on Blimpie:
🌹 Blimpie Base #1 was an icon and a beacon of decency among the sub sandwich chains. When this closed, it was a sign that it was all gone and Subway's brand of cutting corners had won. The food was good, but the rising rents on Washington St. explain everything about the closure. I miss it, because I miss the quality it represented.
Felix left a remembrance on Pongsri Thai:
🌹 So many good memories of this place.
Felix left a remembrance on Nanoosh:
🌹 I loved their quinoa salad. I still make it at home.
Edward left a remembrance on Arirang Korean Restaurant:
🌹 This and the NJ location were both great, and were my first introduction into Korean food, before it became super-popular. I miss them.
Manuel left a remembrance on Prosperity Dumpling:
🌹 My first experience of one dollar dumplings 💔
Trey left a remembrance on HRD:
🌹 This place was special and completely unique, it will be missed.
Becca left a remembrance on Cocoron:
🌹 I will never forget my very first Cocoron curry back in 2014 💔
Overrated trash left a remembrance on Ike's Place:
🌹 Good riddance
Simon W left a remembrance on Forbes Island Restaurant:
🌹 I absolutely adored this place. A house boat disguised as an island, with a lighthouse and palm trees and a beach, moored up near the sea lions at Pier 39? What's not to love! I went hunting for it after it left San Francisco. I eventually caught up with it at Holland Riverside Marina near Brentwood in the East Bay - apparently it may soon be available for private events.
