Todd M left a remembrance on Northeast Kingdom:
🌹 THE GREATEST BURGERS EVERY CREATED IN AMERICA! The loss of Northeast Kingdom was also the point of "peak Bushwick," the culture of the neighborhood collapsed entirely right after NE Kingdom closed. RIP to the best burger restaurant ever!
LC left a remembrance on HomeTown Buffet:
🌹 Not the location I went to but I loved Hometown Buffet. Growing up with Chinese immigrant parents who only made Chinese food at home, this place was my introduction to a lot of American comfort food. The stuffing, mac and cheese, fried chicken, soft serve, etc. I also loved that they would give my brother and me balloons when we were kids. RIP Hometown Buffet!

🌹 thanks for letting me know! I'll take a look into it
Philippe left a remembrance on Tanuki:
🌹 I've never had food so good, consumed drinks so abundant, and played buck hunter so loudly before. A dimly lit establishment that will forever shine bright in my heart.
Chris left a remembrance on Souplantation:
🌹 If you were a real grave I’d drop a red soup bowl atop your soil, still hot from the dishwasher. But you are not, so I cannot. May you rest easy.
Chris left a remembrance on WaveHouse Beach Club:
🌹 Always a good time watching a 45 year old sunburnt man from Europe wipe out in the wave. You’ll be missed.
J left a remembrance on Pates Et Traditions:
🌹 Was one of my favorite gems while living in NY. Great food, ambiance, prices. Sad to see it go.
Michael left a remembrance on Hillstone:
🌹 I loved this place & wish there were still 2 locations in the city
Chris C. left a remembrance on Mexico Lindo Restaurant:
🌹 My wife and I went here on one of our first dates in 2009. I remember the bright, almost garish, decor; ordering a dish called Cancun chicken; and getting to know the amazing person on the other side of the table while a mariachi band worked the room.
jwiz left a remembrance on Forbes Island Restaurant:
🌹 We had our wedding there, in 2004. Super fun. Not a lot of folks can say they had their wedding vows disrupted by sea lions.
Stu left a remembrance on Le P'tit Laurent:
🌹 This was a great low-key neighborhood spot for a spontaneous date night. It was nice enough to feel special, but not too expensive, and it was relatively easy to get a table on somewhat short notice. Feels like there aren't too many restaurants like it in SF anymore -- they're all fast casual or too nice/expensive/trendy. I think Laurent sold it shortly before COVID and left SF. Good timing on his part!
Jules left a remembrance on Franny's:
🌹 You were the best.
Ap left a remembrance on The Hurricane Cafe:
🌹 Hangovers aren't the same without those bottomless greasy hash browns. Miss ya
Vicken left a remembrance on La Fendee:
🌹 This place is still open as of October 2023.
KC left a remembrance on Tani's Kitchen:
🌹 Whenever I crave some Japanese curry, the store is my go-to place. Just realized the owner is retired. Guess nothing lasts forever.
greg (admin) left a remembrance on Californios:
🌹 thanks for letting us know. this specific location doesn't exist anymore, but you're right that the restaurant is still open at a new address. I'll change it so that the site can reflect this i.e. not say "permanently closed" but rather "closed / moved". cheers
me left a remembrance on Californios:
🌹 They didn’t die; they moved locations
A former shipyard worker left a remembrance on No Name Restaurant:
🌹 What a great place. Right by the shipyard. I'm still convinced half of the site visits we hosted were more about the chowder and fried seafood platter than the ships. It didn't have a chance once the neighborhood got trendy, unfortunately, but it was really sad to see it go.
Bigi left a remembrance on ABC Bakery & Cafe 茶餐廳:
🌹 This was the comfort food after-work date spot for me and my wife when we used to both work in the city! Pretty decent food and very hole-in-the-wall but just the kind of food that hits the spot after a long day at the office.
sneak left a remembrance on New Parthenon:
🌹 I came here with my father at least once a year from age 5 until he died 25 years later. At some point I lived across the street and came in weekly. When it closed for renovations during Covid, I was afraid, but held out hope. It will be missed.
